Steve is the President of Haynie and Company, CPAs, and serves as Director of Litigation Services. Steve began his public accounting career in the 1970s with Haynie & Company’s Utah office. Before moving to California in 1985, he served as President of the Utah Association of CPAs and on the Utah state board of accountancy.

Prior to moving to California in the mid-1980s to found the California office of Haynie & Company, Steve had already established himself as a nationally recognized expert in income and estate taxes, having spoken at such well-known conferences as the New York University Annual Institute on Federal Taxation and the University of Miami Annual Institute on Estate Planning (now known as the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning). He served on the planning committee for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Annual Advanced National Estate Planning Conference for 12 years and was a speaker each year. Steve also has an extensive background in litigation consulting and testimony, and has testified in both jury and bench trials in state and federal court over 50 times. His testimony has covered economic and damage analyses in connection with various types of commercial disputes as well as personal injury and wrongful death cases. Steve has also testified in professional liability matters. Steve is a past planning committee member and twice Chair of the American Institute of CPAs Annual Advanced Litigation Services Conference. Steve is also a past President of the Forensic Expert Witness Association. In addition, Steve is a Certified Valuation Analyst (a CPA trained in the field of business valuation) and testifies on business valuation matters.

Steve's practice today encompasses income, estate and trust planning and taxation, structuring and planning for family and closely held businesses, exit planning strategies for business owners, business valuation, and dispute resolution including expert testimony in trials, arbitrations and mediations.
